Will the drive function on both sides of my machine?
Absolutely. All our drives, like the original equipment units, are built to operate on either side of your machine thanks to the two case drain ports. Therefore, specifying a left or right side isn't necessary when ordering. However, if you inform us, we can pre-set the drain port for the correct side, making installation quicker and easier.
Is it possible for me to install the drive myself?
Yes, many of our customers successfully install the drives themselves, but it's ultimately up to you based on your comfort and safety levels. The process involves disconnecting the hoses, loosening the tracks, removing the old sprocket, and unbolting the drive from the frame to slide it out. To install the new drive, simply reverse these steps. Our drives vary in weight from 35 pounds to 225 pounds, so depending on your machine's size, you might need assistance or lifting equipment for a safe installation. If you're uncertain about the condition of your machine's hydraulics or undercarriage, it's wise to consult a specialist to avoid any potential damage to the new drive.
Is there a need to return my old unit or pay any core charges?
No, our purchasing process is entirely straightforward. You purchase the unit outright, and you can keep your old one. There are no core charge deposits or returns required.
Can I replace the drive on only one side of my machine?
Yes, many customers opt to replace the drive on just one side to save on costs. However, be aware that there might be a performance discrepancy when pairing a new drive with an older, worn one. The newer drives often channel more hydraulic energy into torque, which is beneficial for tasks like using the blade. This may cause a new drive to move slightly slower than the original due to the energy used for torque reserve. Ideally, replacing both drives is recommended, as the other side is likely to fail soon.
Do I need to buy adapters to install your drives?
No, unless your machine has been modified from its original state, the drive we send will have the same porting as the original. This allows you to reuse your existing hose ends and adapters. If there are any differences, we will include the necessary adapters at no extra cost.
Why are drives for my machine available at a lower cost elsewhere on the internet?
There are several factors to consider. Firstly, our drives deliver unmatched quality, fit, and performance, comparable to or exceeding your original equipment. When you compare our prices to your dealer's, you'll often find ours to be up to half or even a third of the cost, offering great value. While there are enticing deals online from various global sellers, thorough research is essential. We frequently receive calls from customers who have purchased these cheaper options only to discover they don't fit, won't connect, or have vastly different speed or torque. Many also face issues with seller support and hefty restocking fees for returns. It's crucial to do your homework! Feel free to call us with any questions; we're here to help!
How tight should my tracks be?
The industry best practice is to adjust your tracks so that when one side of the machine is lifted, the track sags about 1.5-2 inches off the center roller. Running the tracks too tight can lead to premature wear on the drive bearings, sprockets, rollers, and other undercarriage components. To extend the life of your undercarriage, keep the tracks as loose as possible without them coming off.
